The usual mistake is treating inches like tenths of a foot. Remember 12 inches = 1 foot, not 10. Another is skipping fractional inches (3/4 in = 0.75 in or 0.0625 ft). Double-check before you order materials.
Divide square inches by 144 (12 × 12 = 144). For example, 1,440 sq in ÷ 144 = 10 sq ft. The calculator shows both units automatically.
