Часто задаваемые вопросы
How do I measure the square footage of a roof?
Measure the footprint length and width of each roof section, multiply them for the footprint area, then multiply by the slope factor for the roof's pitch. Add the sections together.
What is a roofing square?
A roofing square equals 100 square feet of roof surface. Roofers use squares to order shingles and estimate labor.
How many squares is a 2,000 square foot roof?
A 2,000-square-foot roof surface is 20 squares, because one square equals 100 square feet (2,000 ÷ 100 = 20).
What does 25 squares mean in roofing?
25 squares means 2,500 square feet of roof surface (25 × 100). It is the amount of roofing needed to cover that area.
Is a roof bigger than the house footprint?
Yes. A sloped roof covers more area than the ground beneath it. Multiply the footprint by a slope factor, such as 1.118 for a 6/12 pitch, to find the roof area.
How many bundles of shingles are in a square?
Three bundles of standard asphalt shingles cover one roofing square (100 square feet). Heavier shingles may need four or five bundles per square.
What waste factor should I use for roofing?
Use 10% for simple gable roofs. Use 15% for hip roofs, dormers, or valleys. Use 15 to 20% for complex roofs with skylights and penetrations.
How do I calculate ceiling area vs. roof area?
Ceiling area is flat: room length × width below. Roof area includes slope, so it is larger. A vaulted ceiling can match the roof plane for that section.
